MJH Structural Engineers – College Road
College Road is a groundbreaking residential development in East Croydon, by Developer and Contractor, Tide and Vision. The scheme comprises two of the world’s tallest volumetric buildings delivering 937 new homes. A 35-storey tower provides 120 affordable homes, and a 50 storey provides 817 co-living homes, one of the largest co-living developments across the globe. This development was delivered on a constrained 2,000 m2 site in 28 months from start to finish due to its volumetric delivery.
Ove Arup and Partners – 8 Bishopsgate
8 Bishopsgate is a distinctive addition to the City of London’s skyline for Stanhope & Mitsubishi Estate. The building is characterised by its attention to detail, holistic approach to sustainability, and rigorous integration of structure and services into the overarching architectural vision. Conceptually, the building challenges the traditional tower by breaking the massing into smaller blocks, allowing the tower form to address the site constraints and bring human scale to the building.
Robert Bird Group – Longley Place
EPR’s redevelopment of the former Longley Industrial Estate provides a new architectural typology for the build-to-rent sector; a multi-use building comprising 209 BTR apartments, also known as York & Elder, alongside 33,000 sq ft of co-working office space which supports Brighton’s creative community. Achieving BREEAM Excellent and residential HQM Level 4, Longley Place offers excellent resident amenities, including three rooftop gardens, a gym, lounge areas and a private dining room.
Walsh Associates – One Thames Quay
One Thames Quay is a 48-storey tower in the Isle of Dogs. With high-rise expertise & wind tunnel testing, Walsh made significant improvements inc. a c.20% concrete reduction for the stability system, a reworked grid with RC densities as low as 93.1kg/m3, piling reduced by c.25% & achieving the architectural vision within a simple structural solution. Sustainability was prioritised by opting for a high modulus mix in the stability structure for efficiency within tall building tolerances.
WSP – DAMAC Tower
DAMAC Tower is a vertical mixed-use community, offering market and affordable homes, retail, and office spaces in a sculptural composition of terra cotta, reconstituted stone, and glass. DAMAC Tower consists of three distinct elements composed to create impressive views from every aspect of the development.
