Skills for a Sustainable Skyline – Premium Exhibitor

There is an urgent need to decarbonise commercial buildings in the Square Mile and beyond. We must meet the City of London Corporation’s target of Net Zero carbon emissions in the Square Mile by 2040 and we must protect the City’s global competitive advantage by offering sustainable commercial property. We are currently behind the curve on both of these things.

The City of London is calling on the sector to act now. We encourage all to read the Skyline Skills Recommendations Report which asks the industry to:

  • Create better access to training and qualifications for the built environment workforce
  • Foster a workforce culture that is committed to driving sustainability, lifelong learning and diversity
  • Work with senior leaders and government to set ambitious green skills targets and legislation to meet the skills shortages in the industry

In response to the Recommendations Report, the Skills for a Sustainable Skyline Taskforce has launched a new platform to amplify industry best practice in green upskilling and recruitment of diverse talent, the Skyline Skills Hub. We encourage the built environment sector to begin using this free, interactive and industry-approved ‘one stop shop’ for green skills best practice.

The Skills for a Sustainable Skyline Taskforce brings together a group of 350 cross-industry experts with the objective of delivering tangible action.  By assessing the skills needed to decarbonise buildings on this scale, and defining the skills shortage, we will work together to create and deliver an engagement campaign to encourage the upskilling and training needed to build a workforce capable of delivering the scale of change needed.
